St Francis of Assisi Conference

St. Francis of Assisi Parish—Newcastle

The St. Vincent de Paul Society in Newcastle services approximately 40 families per month with food from their pantry, food vouchers, clothing, furniture, household items, beds and mattresses where needed. These come from the Bowmanville Value Store. In addition, they support two bursaries of $500 each for post-secondary for students in financial need.

The St. Vincent de Paul in Newcastle has also reached out to a variety of organizations such as public libraries, Salvation Army and the Durham Outreach Program, in an attempt to reach people in need. Being part of the larger community allows more access to vital services.

There has also  been an attempt to reach out to the catholic schools in the area by doing workshops for students and teachers on what the St Vincent de Paul stands for. They have one major food drive per year through the schools, as well as a clothing drive.
